Five Siemens factories awarded national-level green factory title

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the "2022 Green Manufacturing List," and five Siemens factories were successfully selected as national-level green factories. These five factories are Siemens Siber Helecs Electronics Co., Ltd. (Beijing), Siemens Rail Automation Equipment (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., Siemens Line Protection Systems Co., Ltd. (Shanghai), Siemens Industrial Automation Products (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., and Siemens Sensors and Communications Co., Ltd. Simultaneously, two overcurrent protection circuit breakers produced by Siemens Line Protection Systems Co., Ltd. (Shanghai), two plastic-cased circuit breakers produced by Siemens Electric Co., Ltd. (Suzhou), and two three-phase asynchronous motors produced by Siemens Motors (China) Co., Ltd. were also selected for the "Green Design Product List."

Previously, Siemens Electric Co., Ltd. (Suzhou), Siemens Transportation Electrical Equipment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and Siemens Sensors and Communications Co., Ltd. were also rated as provincial-level green factories in 2022.

"As a focused technology company, Siemens firmly believes that technological innovation is the key to achieving green transformation." Dr. Song Xiao, Siemens Global Executive Vice President, President and CEO of Siemens Greater China, said, "Our efforts in building green factories and green design products not only reflect the practical implementation of the 'Zero Carbon Pioneer Program' but will also have reference significance for the entire industry development. Siemens will continue to be driven by digitalization and decarbonization, contributing technological strength to the high-quality and sustainable development of the Chinese economy."

"Siemens has made sustainable development an important part of its corporate strategy and is committed to achieving carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2030." Qing Ma, Director of Talent and Organization Development and Head of Sustainability at Siemens Greater China, said, "The green transformation of factory operations and green product manufacturing are key links in achieving this ambitious goal. In the future, we will continue to fulfill our commitment to sustainable development, accelerating the integration of sustainable development concepts into the company's strategy, business development, factory operations, product design, and personnel empowerment, actively sharing practical experience, and empowering our customers and partners to work together towards a sustainable future."

Siemens has always been committed to leveraging its technological strength to accelerate the decarbonization process. The Siemens green factories recognized this time have achieved significant energy efficiency, emission reduction, and carbon reduction effects in six dimensions: infrastructure, management system, energy resource input, products, environmental emissions, and performance, through the active deployment of advanced technologies and solutions such as distributed rooftop photovoltaic systems, digital operation and maintenance solutions, energy-saving and efficiency-enhancing solutions, and intelligent energy management platforms.

Siemens previously announced that it would invest 650 million euros in decarbonizing its own operations by 2030 and has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2030. As of the end of 2022, the company has achieved a 46% reduction in carbon emissions since 2019. In September 2021, Siemens officially launched the "Zero Carbon Pioneer Program" in China, aiming to fully promote the decarbonization process in three areas: its own operations, supply chain management, and customer empowerment.
